Orc Camp

Orc Camp

Orc Camp is not a wild encampment and reading it as one is the mistake it punishes. It is a war band that has stopped moving, dug in, and started keeping a chain of command. There are scouts posted outward, mages held back, and elites kept in reserve. Somebody drew this, and that somebody is Gorthak, who has been fighting a continent with no central authority for long enough to notice that this leaves the field open.

Every advance into the camp therefore feels like walking into a plan, because you are. The scouts are not sentries, they are a screen that reports your composition before it engages. The shamans hold the middle. It is the first dungeon where the enemy's structure, rather than the enemy's individual strength, is what actually beats an underlevelled character.

The final boss

Warlord Gorthak Zelazny Cios earned the second half of that name in a way people still describe by mime. He commands a war band that could take a province and has instead spent years turning a camp into a fortress, which suggests either patience or a target worth waiting for. His chieftain's guard fight to keep him fresh, and he arrives fresh.

Before you enter

The recommended level is 15. Treat it as a starting point: farm earlier tiers, upgrade gear, and adjust your pet when a boss stops you.

Difficulty inside a dungeon comes from one number that climbs with the tier, and the step between tiers is a large fraction of the gap between dungeons. So a wall at tier 7 here is not a signal to grind this dungeon harder - it usually means the opening tiers of the next dungeon are a better use of the hour, and you come back with the gear they dropped.
